The six-day residential course will take place at Barton Camp, outside Bristol, from Saturday 15th to Friday 21st February 2020

The BFI Film Academy animation camp is open to all young people aged 16-19 with a passion for animation.

About the course

Delivered in partnership with oscar-winning Aardman Animations and the University of the West of England’s School of Animation, our course offers 25 places for young people with a passion for animation to work together in teams to make five animated shorts. We focus on ‘lens-based’ animation, using cameras to shoot 3D models or 2D artwork.

Participants learn about every stage of production, covering story development, model making, animation production and post production.

We also offer sessions on careers advice and master-classes with practicing industry professionals from the Bristol animation scene.

Accommodation details

Barton Camp is a purpose built facility for young people’s residential training courses outside Bristol. You will be staying in small shared rooms of four or five and we will have sole use of the site during the camp. All our teaching takes place on site. Our trainers and tutors will be staying there to ensure all round care and support.

There is a fee of £210 and participants are asked to make their own travel arrangements to get to Bristol, however we have travel and fee bursaries so cost should not be a barrier to anybody taking part. All food and accommodation is included in the fee.
