New Creatives Announced!

Calling the Shots are incredibly excited to be running the Arts Council England and BBC Arts backed New Creatives project for the South West region. This new talent development scheme will give artists aged 16-30 from a range of backgrounds the chance to have their work commissioned for BBC platforms, with a particular focus on those underrepresented in the arts. Providing opportunities for young artists to develop professional and creative skills, the programme will encourage them to push creative boundaries, reach new audiences and reflect their experiences of living in Britain today.

We’ll be working with partner organisations across the region including Somerset Film (Bridgwater), Kaleider (Exeter), Create Studios (Swindon), Screen Cornwall (Redruth) and Watershed (Bristol).

We will be opening applications for submissions in April 2019, find out more over at our New Creatives page

BFI Animation Camp – Getting ready!

Just three weeks to go before our sixth annual BFI Film Academy Animation Camp!

We have recruited our 25 budding animation industry entrants who will be spending a week in February with us at beautiful Barton Camp in the Mendips, living and breathing animation.

Over the course of the week they will be trying out a range of classic animation techniques including pixilation, sand animation, lip-syncing and hand drawn production as well as learning about the fundamental principles of creating the illusion of life in an inanimate object or drawing.

Check back soon for news, photos and films from the camp.
