Overview

Mini Masterpieces

In 2003, we were commissioned by then BBC Head of Short films (now Archers editor) Jeremy Howe, to run a fast turnaround production scheme at the annual Encounters Short Film Festival.

Emerging makers from across the UK were challenged to develop, produce, and edit their films during the three day festival for premiere on the final evening.
Rules were strict and inspired by the Danish Dogmae manifesto. The scheme developed a whole host of film talent with a series of films going on to win awards.

Toa Stappard’s Double Take (2003) was adopted as a key resource in English Media Studies A Level and Test by Claire Alberie (2010) won the audience award for best film in the Future Film Festival at BFI Southbank.
