Overview

The BBC wanted to discover new film making talent via a new scheme run in association with the international Encounters short film festival in Bristol.

Calling the Shots designed an exciting competition format based on the low budget “Dogme 95” manifesto created by Danish directors Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg. Filmmakers from across the UK pitched ideas to a panel of professionals, the winners then having three days to film, edit and premiere their three minute films on the last day of the festival.

In 2010 we delivered a bespoke version of Mini for drama students at the University of Bristol with an emphasis on script development and professional practice.
