Overview
Our Lives With Horses
In 2004, Calling the Shots were commissioned by the Bristol Natural History Consortium to work with eight Roma teenagers to make a film that explored traveller culture and the community’s relationship with horses.
The film captures a very specific bit of British society at a turning point. Will these young people continue the culture of animal husbandry and learn the Roma language? Or are today’s commercial pressures too strong an influence?
