We were all over our very own home-grown/international Encounters Festival last week! We loved seeing the hundreds of short film makers flocking all the over the bars and screens down at the Watershed Cinema and all over Bristol.
First up, we were hosting the first two national screenings of our Random Acts film project. This was an eclectic mix of 15 films by young directors from across the country and curated by Calling the Shots. The films were produced by CTS and our partners ICA, Screen South, Rural Media and Tyneside Cinema.
We also hosted a fantastic panel event featuring some of our Random Acts film makers, Ellen Pearson, Ella Trudgeon, Chris Price and producer mentor Mike Jenkins from 8th Sense Media. Also on the panel was Channel 4 Random Acts commissioner, Pegah Farahmand and Raj Patel from Arts Council England. It was a really lively and interesting debate that covered the whys and wherefores of short film making and the Random Acts opportunity itself. Thank you everyone who came along to the events, now get applying (if you’re lucky enough to be 16-24!)
