Applications are now open for the British Film Institute’s Film Academy Animation Camp 2018!
Calling the Shots are excited to offer a week-long residential animation course for young people aged between 16 and 19, led by some of the industry’s finest animators, as part of the BFI Film Academy and in partnership with Oscar-winning Aardman Animations and the University of the West of England’s School of Animation.
About the course
As a BFI Film Academy participant, you will learn the latest in stop-motion animation practice. The six-day programme will include sessions on story devising and stop-motion animation techniques, a visit to Aardman Animations HQ as well as careers advice and master classes with practicing industry professionals from the world-beating Bristol animation scene. Working in small teams, you will create an animated short that will be screened at The Cube Cinema in Bristol.
When: Saturday, 10th to Friday 16th February 2018. You need to make sure that you can attend all these dates before signing up.
Where: A residential training camp near Bristol.
Fees: There is a small fee of £50, to cover accommodation, food, materials and all the training for the week, and participants will need to cover their own transport costs. There are bursaries available to cover these costs for anyone who may need financial assistance.
You must be:
- A UK resident aged 16-19 on the first day of the programme.
- Able to commit to the programme for its duration.
- As excited as we are about making, watching and talking about animation!
