The dust has now settled after our third BFI Film Academy residential animation camp.
Applications are now open for the British Film Institute’s Film Academy Animation Camp 2018!
Calling the Shots are excited to offer a week-long residential animation course for young people aged between 16 and 19, led by some of the industry’s finest animators, as part of the BFI Film Academy and in partnership with Oscar-winning Aardman Animations and the University of the West of England’s School of Animation.
Calling the Shots are pleased to be returning to Yeo Moor School this summer to work with year-six students to produce a short film.
Yeo Moor and Calling The Shots have worked together for the last three years as part of the Curzon Cinema’s Prince’s Trust Funded START project that aimed to support students to understand how films are made and develop the skills to ‘read’ films.
We’re just back from the feedback workshop for the 38 partner organisations that have been commissioned to deliver the BFI’s Film Academy programme of filmmaking workshops for 16-19 year olds (see here). It has been great to hear about all the other programmes taking place across the country, and very gratifying as well to see clips from two of our films included in the BFI’s showreel of activity from the Film Academy this year.
We’ve just been working with Cathy Poole from the Curzon Cinema in Clevedon for a third year on her Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts funded project that has allowed the Curzon to offer a programme of film literacy across North Somerset.
The project has seen groups of school children visiting the cinema, learning about film history, watching classic short films, and for 8 schools, working with CTS to produce short films.
